Review:

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I would like to say that I was kind of surprised that I still remember what happened in the first book even though I’ve read the first one months and months ago. I don’t remember ALL of it, but I do remember a lot. I got some problem remembering some of the characters, but it all came back to me the more I read.

For me this was better than the first book. I really saw an improvement in the characters and how the story continues. I still can’t relate to Kiuno though. I don’t get her at all. The writing is still good. But what I really noticed was how the way the characters talked/conversed with each other. They were all from the present but unfortunately, they were sucked into a game called Chronopoint and then time passed – a year from what I remember because someone was keeping track of the days – and they are still stuck in Chronopoint but the way they talked changed dramatically in a short period of time. I mean, the way they converse was not natural. There were parts in the book where they were talking as if they are in medieval time.

I liked what happened to Reece, though I was kind of already expecting that from the very beginning of the second book. I loved the wedding scene because KJ and Palindrome are my favorite characters in this book. Also, Maltack! Maltack is the sweetest. And the ending was a really great way to end this book. That was a nice cliff hanger.

Overall, I think this was a huge improvement than the last one and Running with Wolves was already good so that says a lot. I would really suggest this to all readers who enjoy these kinds of stories. My gamer, fantasy, fight-scene-lover readers out there, I urge you to read this one. This one is tailored for you.

Congratulations J.E. Reed for creating another wonderful book! Will be waiting for the third one for sure.

Review:

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I was in a state of confusion in the intro but that’s almost always the case for me. The opening parts of this book was rather slow but it immediately kept up the pace. I enjoyed the idea of players getting sucked into the game and then there are those unlucky people who got sucked into the game rather unsuccessfully (like apparating in Harry Potter and they get splinched).

The writing is strong, and I’d even say that it’s really good. Even though I find the writing to be great, the characters for me were rather bland. Kiuno obviously was the chosen one with this unexplained powerful magic and is this heroine I expect to wreck havoc and be awesome and strong. I was disappointed in most of her parts, due to the fact that she has this power and is the protagonist of our story but I do not connect with her at all. Of all, I liked Blue and Maltack best and the drinking session of the group was my favorite scene.

I can see why people who read this says that it’s like the Hunger Games and Ready Player One met and mated and this was the resulting offspring. A lot of gamers and adventure seekers would really enjoy this novel.

There are a lot of unanswered questions but I’m pretty sure that there’s a second book for this based on where it left off. There are a lot of unanswered questions but I’m pretty sure that there’s a second book for this based on where it left off. I would highly suggest the book if you’re looking for some adventure in foreign lands, sword fights, and encounters with wild creatures. 🌲🌵🌞🌧️❄️

Over all I think the book is good, just not what I’m planning to read at the moment that’s why I gave it a three. Thank you so much to the author, J.E. Reed, for providing me a copy of the novel. 😄 You are the sweetest! And good job on your book. 💜

Thanks for reading!

Review:

As always, I was not disappointed with Marie Lu’s book. This new addition to her stories is addicting. The story itself is very visual and full of amazing descriptions of Hideo Tanaka’s made up arenas. The neurolink sort of reminded me of the new movie called Ready Player One (to be released 2018) where it’s set in the future and he plays games using his glasses because there’s nowhere nice to go to. Also being a fan of Marie Lu, I knew from the very beginning that there’s going to be a very big plot twist in the middle or at the end of this book which I was right all along. It was so action-packed and amazing that I couldn’t wait to go home from work so I could read it. Just imagine if The Hunger Games and The Matrix had a baby. THIS IS THE BABY.

What makes this book so amazing as well is that it’s very diverse. The main characters are from different nations like Emika is Chinese-American, Hideo is Japanese, there’s a kid in a wheelchair, and gay characters. The story itself is not so different from what we live in now that there’s even a black market which weirdly reminds me of Pirate Bay (the site where you download illegal stuffs).

I’ve got so many questions and the ending of the book seems to be telling us that the next one would be as amazing as this one or even better. All I know is, I CAN NOT WAIT.
